Cogmed Working Memory Training is a solution for individuals who are held back by their working memory capacity. This could include children and adults with attention deficits or learning disorders, victims of brain injury or stroke, and adults experiencing information overload or the natural effects of aging. Working memory is the ability to keep information in your mind for a short time, focus on a task, and remember what to do next. By training your working memory, you will be better able to stay focused, ignore distractions, plan next steps, remember instructions, and start and finish tasks. The training begins with an initial meeting with a Cogmed-certified coach, who provides an orientation to the program and answers questions. Following the initial meeting, users complete five weeks of daily training on a computer at home, school, or work. In addition to the daily training, weekly coaching is provided to assist in motivation, monitor progress, and adjust the program to fit the individual user’s needs. Cogmed Working Memory Training is an evidence-based training program developed by leading neuroscientists to improve attention in individuals with weak working memory. Cogmed is backed by peer-reviewed, controlled research done at leading universities around the world and is proven to lead to significant, real life improvements in 80% of users. Cogmed is only available through a global network of professionals. Each Cogmed Practitioner is qualified by Cogmed to provide the training program and all are experienced in assessing and addressing attention problems. The Cogmed Network provides a professional service that is designed to give all users the best chance for maximum training effects.
